Pillars of Peace Hawaii: Building Peace on a Foundation of Aloha works to bring global peace leaders to Hawaii as well as build the social and emotional learning capacity of youth in Hawaii. Below are links to videos of various Pillars of Peace events.
Pillars of Peace Hawaiʻi partnered with the Schools of the Future Conference beginning in 2015 when a dedicated Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) track was added for the first time. In 2019, an Individualized Learning/Learning Differences track was added with the support of Oak Foundation. This annual conference attracts hundreds of teachers, counselors and administrators from Hawaiʻiʻs public, private and charter schools, as well as others from around the world interested in education. Selected videos, stories and other materials from these tracks are available below. Schools of the Future 2020 and 2021 were conducted virtually.
Pillars of Peace Hawaii was a partner in presenting the 2015 Schools of the Future Conference, where 1,500 teachers and school administrators from Hawaii's public , private, and charter schools came together to learn. This was the first time there was a series of dedicated session on social and emotional learning.

Pillars of Peace Hawaii was host for a visit of three representatives of The Elders, an independent group of global leaders brought together by Nelson Mandela in 2007. Former Prime Minister of Norway Gro Harlem Brundtland, Pakistani human rights activist Hina Jilani and Archbishop Desmond Tutu spent three event-filled days in August 2014 sharing their wisdom and wit on how to create ethical leaders and a global community.

Pillars of Peace Hawaii was co-host for a visit to Oahu by Nobel Peace Laureate Aung San Suu Kyi. The January 2013 trip, which was Aung San Suu Kyi’s first visit to the islands, enabled her to share a powerful message of courage and compassion while gaining an understanding of Hawaii’s unique culture, history, and tradition of multiethnic cooperation.

In August 2012, Pillars of Peace Hawaii partnered with The Cathedral of Saint Andrew to bring global peace leader Archbishop Desmond Tutu to Hawaii. During his visit, Archbishop Tutu shared his wisdom, encouraging youth to imagine a world full of possibilities and inspiring community members to make their dreams of a peaceful world a reality.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama's visit to Hawai'i in April 2012 marked the launch of Hawai'i Community Foundation's new initiative, "Pillars of Peace Hawai'i: Building Peace on a Foundation of Aloha."
